Cold weather present from my friend

A few weeks ago when it was still COLD here, a friend of mine made me some working mittens.  They are open so I can type with my fingers.  Since we were trying to save energy and only using the firewood insert for heat, my office was very cold.  These mittens were AWESOME!   Thank you Anna Marie.  

Nellie's quilt

Randy's Aunt Nellie asked me to finish sewing and do the quilting on this quilt from a 2007 shop hop. I am very pleased with the final product and these are my best feathers to date!

Spring snow and dog play!

Just a few days ago we had almost 80 degree weather. Today we got 5-6 inches of snow! Here are some of my daffodils braving their snowy coat. I hope they survive! I should have cut some to bring inside, but you know how that goes.


The dogs wanted to go out so I brought my camera. Here is Callie, you can't tell but she has snow on her nose, silly girl.
And last is Fly after the play. She was the only one to collect snow balls like this. I had to give her a bath to get them all off.

Do you know this block.

I remember seeing this block, I drew four of them below, on someone's blog last year.  It is a very simple block but i loved the star created when you twisted them as below.  Does anyone know where to find it?

More longarm quilting

Sorry its been so long in between posts! We had Christmas, finished the quilting room, herding, and work continues to get in the way of life! I'm not complaining though, I still have a job.

Here are some pictures of quilting I have done in the last few months.

Rule of 10 - for stockdogs

Fly and I had a great herding session today, again!  Her stop is getting better and better. Laurie says she saw some indicators today that Fly is learning the meaning of 'come bye' and 'away'! We worked on a wider flank and partial flanks. Partial flanks means I only let Fly go about 2-3 hours on the clock , then ask her to 'lie down'. I'm still amazed by the amount of control i'm getting with her! See rule number 1 below.

I found this wonderful list at workingaussiesource.com.  I think I've heard all ten of them! Number 1 in just the last two weeks.
